What is Compass?
Point your phone and read the heading. This compass runs entirely in your browser on your phone's built-in magnetometer, so there is nothing to install, no account, and nothing sent anywhere. The dial turns so your heading always sits under the top marker, and a tap freezes a bearing you want to keep. It reads magnetic north, which differs from true north by your local declination.

∞The compass needs calibrating — tilt your phone and move it in a figure-8.
This shows magnetic north. True north differs by your local magnetic declination.
Motion access needed
The compass reads your phone's orientation sensor. Grant access to begin.
Motion access denied
Re-enable motion and orientation access in your browser settings, then reload the page.
Secure connection needed
Orientation sensors only work over HTTPS. Open this tool on the live site (https://mentria.ai).
No absolute heading
This device reports its tilt but not where north is, so a heading would only wander. A phone or tablet with a magnetometer is needed.
